Architectural shingle reroofs · CSLB #1113385
Architectural asphalt shingle is the reroof Tekton installs most across Los Angeles County. Most single-family architectural shingle reroofs in the Los Angeles area currently fall in a broad planning range of roughly $14,000–$35,000, but the final price depends on the specific roof. Costs vary widely based on roof size, pitch, number of layers, decking condition, material choice, access, and permit requirements. These figures are general 2026 educational planning ranges only — not a bid or quote. We specify a Title 24 cool-rated shingle when the permit path requires it. CSLB #1113385. The only accurate price is an itemized written estimate after we inspect your roof. Call 866-643-1950.

Architectural (dimensional) asphalt shingle is the system most Southern California houses should be wearing. It handles our UV load when you choose a decent product, it is repairable after Santa Ana winds, it works on the pitches of ranch, two-story tract, and many hillside homes, and it does not ask the structure to carry the dead load of a full tile system.
Tekton Roofing & Insulation installs architectural shingle week in and week out from the San Fernando Valley to the South Bay and into Orange County. Three-tab shingle still appears on some older roofs; we will replace it with architectural unless you have a specific reason not to. Designer and impact-rated lines are available when the house, HOA, or insurer asks for them.
We also install tile, metal, and low-slope systems. Tile and flat reroofs have their own pages; metal and mixed systems live on the roof replacement page. If someone is steering you to the most expensive assembly without showing the shingle number next to it, get a second number from us. Call 866-643-1950.
A reroof is not “shingles on top of whatever is there.” California practice, and our practice, is a tear-off to the deck on a full replacement unless a documented exception applies. You see each line on the estimate.
When you replace the roof covering on a steep-slope house in much of Southern California, the California Energy Code (Title 24) often requires a cool roof: a CRRC-rated product that meets aged solar reflectance and thermal emittance for your climate zone. Los Angeles County spans several zones (commonly 6, 8, 9, and 16). Inland cities run hotter; coastal marine-layer cities still have a reflectance requirement on many reroofs.
Cool-rated architectural shingles are widely available from the major manufacturers. They look like a normal dimensional shingle. The upcharge is usually modest next to the rest of the reroof. We specify the product on the estimate so the building inspector, and you, can see it.
Cool roofs do not replace attic insulation. A reflective shingle reduces heat gain at the surface; a full, even insulation layer and air sealing reduce the load that reaches the upstairs rooms. If the second floor never cools down, ask us to look at the attic in the same visit. One license, one conversation.
Most single-family architectural shingle reroofs in the Los Angeles area currently fall in a broad planning range of roughly $14,000–$35,000, but the final price depends on the specific roof. Homeowners often use about $9–$16 per square foot of roof surface as a planning figure (a “square” is 100 square feet). A simple one-story ranch with one layer, easy access, and a modest pitch often sits toward the lower-middle of that educational range. A steep two-story with two layers, valley work, and decking repairs often sits toward the high end or above it.
Costs vary widely based on roof size, pitch, number of layers, decking condition, material choice, access, and permit requirements. Other movers include chimney and skylight count, whether the city wants a cool-rated product, HOA color constraints, and dump fees. We do not hide decking in a lump sum. If we open the roof and find more bad plywood than the allowance, we photograph it and price the extra before we nail it down.

Financing is between you and your bank or a third-party lender; we do not bury interest in the roof price.
Most single-family shingle reroofs are one to three working days after material is on site. Tear-off and dry-in happen so the house is not left open overnight in rain season. The crew works under a job supervisor. Landscaping and walkways are protected. Tear-off debris is hauled, not stacked in the driveway for a week.
You will have a start date before the first shingle comes off. If the forecast turns, we reschedule rather than opening a roof into a storm. After the last nail, we magnet the grounds, walk the job with you, and close the permit when the city requires a final.
Manufacturer shingle warranties on architectural products commonly run 25 to 50 years, sometimes with “lifetime” marketing language that is still limited by the fine print — ventilation, installation, and transfer rules. We tell you which product is on the roof and what the maker actually warrants.
Our workmanship warranty is written on the estimate. Tekton is family-owned, licensed CSLB #1113385 (Tekton Builders & Design), and insured. Kabo stays involved through the job, which is why the Google reviews mention him by name. Free estimates, no obligation. Call 866-643-1950 or request a quote.

What to expect
We visit the property, inspect the roof surface, flashing, and attic, document what is failing, and prepare an itemized written estimate. No obligation, and no pressure to sign on the spot.
You review the scope line by line — materials, underlayment, ventilation, disposal, and warranty — and we set a start date that works around your household or your tenants.
Our crew handles the tear-off and installation under a job supervisor, keeps the site secure between working days, and protects the landscaping and walkways around the building.
We haul off tear-off debris, sweep the driveway and landscaping with a magnet for stray nails, and walk the finished job with you before final payment.

On many full steep-slope reroofs, yes — Title 24 requires a CRRC-rated cool roof product in a large share of Southern California climate zones. Limited repairs are different. We specify a compliant shingle on the estimate when the permit requires it. The look is still a standard architectural shingle.
Full replacements are tear-offs to the deck unless a documented, code-legal exception applies. Roofing over a failed layer traps problems and is the wrong default in this climate. Extra-layer tear-off is a line item, currently discussed in a broad planning range of roughly $100–$200 per square — not a bid. The only accurate price is an itemized written estimate after we inspect your roof.
Most houses are one to three working days. We confirm the schedule with the estimate and do not open the roof if rain is in the window.
